Manikato stakes
The Manikato Stakes is a Group One Australian thoroughbred horse race which takes place at the Moonee Valley Racecourse every year. Re-named after the superb horse Manikato who won the race twice, on top of five wins in the William Reid Stakes at the track, the Stakes takes place in September as part of the Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival.
Held over 1, 200 metres, the Manikato Stakes is a weight-for-age event worth half a million dollars, and is traditionally held on the Friday night before the AFL Grand Final – in conjunction with the Group Two Stutt Stakes. Previously known as the Freeway Stakes before changing to its current name in 1984, the Manikato Stakes was first run in 1968.
Usually won by a highly esteemed racehorse, the Manikato Stakes is a strong indicator when it comes to horse form for the rest of the spring carnival – specifically the WS Cox Plate. Held as part of the Breeders’ Cup Challenge since 2009, the winner of the Manikato Stakes automatically qualifies for the Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint in the USA later in the year.
There is no better place to go for Manikato betting than an online betting site. Punters will find a full list of generous odds on these races plus many more held throughout Australia and the world. In addition, there are plenty of betting tools available to help punters increase their chances of winning. Look up a Manikato Stakes tip or check out the Melbourne Cup form guide before placing your wagers. It could just mean the different between winning and losing. As online betting sites offer punters convenience that has never been seen in race betting before, they are quickly becoming the place to go for all horse betting needs.
