Turn Me Loose has been set on two Australian racing campaigns through the recent spring and autumn seasons and is a multiple winner at the highest level; posting an impressive career total of seven wins and four minors through only fifteen competitive starts.

Having trialled well in his native New Zealand earlier this week, Baker told the NZ Racing Desk that Turn Me Loose will have a trial at Flemington before launching his 2016 Melbourne Spring Carnival campaign.

“If he doesn’t go over on Sunday he’ll go the following week,” Baker said.

“He won his trial well and he broke a minute on a heavy track.

“He takes a bit to get fit as he’s still a stallion and he’s a big horse. He can jump out at Flemington when he gets there. They have jump-outs every week.”

Winning the Group 1 NZ 2000 Guineas (1600m) in November 2014, Turn Me Loose returned to racing last year for sixth in the Group 1 Makfi Challenge Stakes (1400m) before crossing the ditch for second in the Listed Paris Lane Stakes (1400m).

Posting his first Australian win in the Listed Seymour Cup (1600m) on October 18th, Turn Me Loose repeated the dose in the Group 2 Crystal Mile (1600m) before storming home to win the Group 1 Emirates Stakes (1600m).

Returning to Australia this year for fourth in the Group 1 CF Orr Stakes (1400m) on February 13th, the Iffraaj entire won the Group 1 Futurity Stakes (1400m) but finished towards the tail of the field in both the Group 1 George Ryder Stakes (1500m) and Group 1 Doncaster Mile (1600m).

The 2016 Manikato Stakes field and barrier draw is due to be completed and released by midday, Wednesday October 19th.
